No fewer than 6,669 products of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo will participate in the 31st convocation of the institution tomorrow and Saturday.
The last convocation of the college was held on June 30, 2006. This year, graduands would receive both National Certificate in Education (NCE) and Bachelor of Education certificates.
Briefing reporters on the programme of events last Tuesday, the Provost of the college, Prof. Adeyemi Idowu, said graduates of 2004/2005 to 2007/2008 Harmattan and Rain Semester will participate in the ceremony.
Besides, Idowu said four eminent Nigerians including the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godwill Akpabio, Chief Rochas Okorocha, Senator Grace Bent and High Chief Bayo Akinnola, the Lisa of Ondo kingdom, would be honoured with Fellowships for the contributions to their respective localities.
Other highlights of the ceremony are the commissioning of various projects such as the Library extension, Abiodun Hostel annex, Green Hostel, Fine and Applied Arts, science complex among others.
There will also be and exhibition, football match, convocation lecture and cocktail party.
Idowu used the occasion to inform that the Educational Trust Fund (ETF) has approved N1 billion grant for the institution to execute projects based on their proposals.
He added that the management was awaiting the pronouncement by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the upgrade of the institution to a University of Education.
